I did get my root password set. Thanks to the group.
I have been trying to set a static IP4 address. I have used Preferences | Network connections. I have entered all the common info and set IP6 to Ignore. The SAVE worked ok.
All my restarts and cold boots still show my DHCP address, not the static address I entered with Network Connections. What am I not doing correctly?
